The Best Christian Serial Publications

By Robert Minto

Below are my lists of the best and most important Christian Serial Publications. I update it as necessary—don’t hesitate to point out anything I’ve missed. My criteria for “best” and “most important” include competent writing, thoughtful engagement rather than mindless championing of single perspectives, and range of influence.  I have marked my particular favorites with an asterisk; otherwise, the lists are in alphabetical order.

Note: to distinguish “serial publications” from “blogs” I have chosen in the case of online publications to list only venues that regularly feature more than one writer.

    This is good list, Robert.

PRISM magazine, published by Ron Sider’s Evangelicals for Social Action, might also be worthy of consideration. I find its progressive point of view more holistic and less partisan than Sojouners.

  2. Ben Myers says:

Glad you included Studies in Christian Ethics — an amazingly good journal. And don’t forget Heythrop Journal and New Blackfriars: definitely two of the best.

Thanks for the suggestions Dan and Ben!

Shows how ignorant this college student is that I’ve never heard of any of these three journals you mention. I’ll check them out immediately.

Yup, I definitely agree with all your suggestions. I’ve added them to the list.

By the way—the Heythrop Journal looks amazing. I’ll be subscribing to that soon I think. Many thanks for the tip.
